Current Obsession: SoleMate Sox™ Magnetic Socks

There have been many instances when I’ve seen a cool invention and thought, ‘I wish I had that idea!’ But I never thought that phrase would ever come to fruition for me. I’d often think long and hard about what I could come up with that was practical, cool, useful and solved some sort of everyday problem but maybe I was thinking too hard. The idea was just sitting there, wrapped in frustration, lying in a basket of missing sock mates.

Ideas born from frustration is not uncommon. In fact, I’ve read that most successful ideas have come about from that very emotion. Frustration is what birth something from my heart and soul- SoleMate Sox™.

SoleMate Sox™ is my new invention that solves the Missing Mate Mystery. They are artistic, patent-pending magnetic socks held together on laundry day so you don’t lose your mates. YAY!!

My Ah, ha moment happened more than a year ago as I once again was sorting fresh, warm laundry from the dryer.  I usually save the sock pile until the end and just like always, I ended up with another batch of single socks. UGH! I had reached the end of my thread!

That was the beginning of my challenging+ rewarding year-long entrepreneurial journey which includes- chasing down sock mill owners, meetings with engineers, meetings with lawyers, patent paperwork, business filings, a failed Kickstarter, design hiccups, rejection, doubt, excitement, tears, ‘what the hell am I doing’ thoughts, people who lack ambition, doubters, people who don’t listen, testing, magnet testing, kindred spirits, spiritual signs, simple success and FINALLY a live product and a live online store. As a former television newscaster and life-long storyteller who loves and appreciates art, I wanted to not only invent a simple solution to an everyday problem but I also wanted SoleMate Sox™ to express something more emotional that represents love. Each pair is thoughtfully designed with love to tell a story.

Our artists, which also include my children, approach each new original design with passion and inspirational conviction to draw, paint or pencil palettes that are fun, vibrant, colorful and purposeful.
